We are pleased to announce three of our very special guests for the 2009 Atlanta Queer Literary Festival. Our keynote speakers will be poet and activist Staceyann Chin and novelist Manil Suri, along with special slam poet/musical guests Good Asian Drivers. More featured artists will be announced in the coming months so check back often.
We're also pleased to announce Anthony Garcia-Copian as the winner of the 2009 Larry Corse Playwriting Competition for his play, The Book of Revolutions. The play will be produced during AQLF and the author will be in attendance. More about Garcia-Copian (pictured at left) coming soon.
We'd also like to welcome and thank our new partners and sponsors, including the Decatur Book Festival, Georgia Center for the Book, DeKalb County Public Library and YouthPride. These new partners join our returning sponsors Outwrite Books & Coffee House, Charis Books & More, Emory University, Atlanta-Fulton County Public Library System and First Existentialist Congregation of Atlanta to present the 2009 festival. Links for all our sponsors and partners can be find in the right sidebar.
Our partnership with the Decatur Book Festival, which draws a crowd of 70,000-plus every Labor Day weekend, is especially exciting as we will be programing a series of GLBT readings during this spectacular literary weekend. An announcement of those special guests is forthcoming.
Please also note that we have slightly changed our sponsorship and donation levels in the right-hand sidebar. We know economic times are tough, but please consider making a tax-deductible donation to AQLF via PayPal.
