AQLF at Atlanta Pride 2010



Atlanta Pride Literary Showcase
Saturday, Oct. 9, 1:30 p.m. at Budweiser Stage, Piedmont Park

AQLF will feature poets and writers reading from their work followed by a Q&A. You'll also find out more about the upcoming festival! Schedule to appear:

Theresa Davis: Slam champ and spoken word artist Theresa Davis has represented Atlanta on both the Java Monkey and Art Amok Slam Teams and performs at colleges and universities around the country. She appeared in The Vagina Monologues with Jane Fonda, Pearl Cleage and Eve Ensler, and is the author of two poetry collections, Head Games and Torn.

Franklin Abbott: Franklin is the author of the poetry collections Mortal Love and Pink Zinnias, and was the editor of the critically acclaimed anthology Boyhood: Growing Up Male from the University of Wisconsin Press. He is the founder of the Atlanta Queer Literary Festival.

Cleo Creech: Poet, essayist and blogger Cleo Creech is the editor of the anthology Outside the Green Zone and is the founding editor of the Java Monkey Speaksanthology series from Poetry Atlanta Press.

Maudelle Driskell: Maudelle holds an M.F.A. in poetry from Warren Wilson College. She is the recipient of the Ruth Lilly Fellowship, awarded by Poetry magazine and the Modern Language Association. Her work has appeared in Poetry, Kenyon Review, CAIRN, New Orleans Review, All Shook Up, and The Made Thing.

David-Matthew Barnes: Poet, playwright and now novelist, Barnes' young adult novel, Mesmerized, is out in November from Bold Stroke Books. His adult novel,Accidents Never Happen, will be out in 2011.

Lisa Allender: Actress and poet Allender has appeared in Drop Dead DivaHouse of Payne and will star in a major motion picture filming in Atlanta this fall. Her poetry collection, Words from Water, is coming soon.

Mose Hardin is a self-published poet who loves reading everything and who has lived in Atlanta for 24 years and is currently working on his 6th poetry book "Living a POETIC LIFE".


Bailey Lynn is a FtM transsexual in the process of writing a memoir about his experiences. The memoir is a cooperative project with his mother, the poet Ann Lynn. He has read at Outwrite Books and will be a featured writer at the 2010 Atlanta Queer Literary Festival.
