AQLF kicks off with a pre-festival open mic tonight hosted by Karen G. (pictured) -- poet, spoken word artist and co-founder of one of Atlanta's longest running open mic, Cliterati. The event will be held at Ponce de Leon Library, 980 Ponce de Leon Library, in Midtown. Everyone is welcome to bring their best work for this event, which begins at 7 p.m.
And tomorrow night is the official kick-off with keynote addresses by bestselling poet and memoirist Mark Doty, novelist Kate Evans and spoken word artist Blair at 7:30 p.m. Poet Collin Kelley will emcee. Arrive early to enjoy a reception by our media sponsor Southern Voice at 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public and will be he held in the auditorium of the Downtown branch of the Atlanta-Fulton County Library, 1 Margaret Mitchell Square. We are encouraging visitors to take MARTA to the Peachtree Center station...which is just across the street from the library's main entrance.
